30 years of the Project Harambee
December 4th, 2013: in Milan, in an exhibition area of Via Dante 14, we celebrated 30 years of the Harambee Project activity! Many friends, new supporters and the testimonies of the volunteers just returned from Nyandiwa, in a path between images and words that have told us the projects, the adventures and the future goals of Brownsea Foundation project.

New female dormitory for CollegeOfficial opening of New female dormitory - IKSDP College
The October 21, 2013 was inaugurated the new girls' dormitory of our Nyandiwa College, with great satisfaction of the girls who'll live in the new building much more comfortable than the previous arrangement. The dormitory and other related works were funded with part of the funds already collected in Europe for the Harambee Costa Kenya Mombasa project, closed last year.


IKSDP Creative CentreIKSDP Nyandiwa Creative Centre
The IKSDP Nyandiwa Creative Centre is born with aim of promoting local arts and crafts, as an example of efficient and sustainable micro-economy. Special attention is given to the most vulnerable groups: young people and women. The Creative Centre works as cooperative Self-help group and produces bags traditional African costumes, miniature statues, baskets. furniture and paintings made with local natural resources or recycled materials. The bags are crocheted with banana leaves or plastic bags cutted into strips. An original recycling eco-friendly and a creative source of income!.

Two Italian volunteers, , Ludovica e Maria Vittoria Ceschi, tell their experience in the field in Nyandiwa for Harambee Project, reflecting on the meaning and role of the work of the volunteer.
A brief travel diary that takes us into the daily reality of Nyandiwa and into Travel Study of volunteers, giving the participants the opportunity to meet the Nyandiwa people and share some aspects of their lives, to understand what it means to live in a country in the developing world. The Travel Study Programs 2013 are intended to define a new meaning for development interventions and highlight new parameters to measure success in these initiatives.

Partnership IKSDP &  Rongo UniversityIKSDP & Rongo University, new partnership: Together for a better education!
Great event, Friday, July 19, 2013 at IKSDP Nyandiwa Centre: the Rongo University College of Nairobi and IKSDP (Italian Kenyan Scout Development Project) celebrated their partnership in our Social Hall.

As Antonio Labate said: “This is a long term project, that will continue in the future together with other friends from Kenya and other nations”.

The National Drama Festival 2013 was held in Mombasa: on April 26, 2013 our winning team has won the 1st prize and has represented their own show in the State House in Mombasa, attended by the President of the Republic of Kenya.

The construction of new women's dormitory of our College has been completed.
On February 13, 2013 at Nyandiwa Scout Centre, was held the Graduation Ceremony for the youth that have completed courses of our College in July. Among the many participants, the Director of World Scout Bureau-Africa Region, the international manager of same Bureau, regional chiefs of Kenya Scouts Association, the Scout leader of Finland and prof. Adam Geoprogres ('Piemonte Orientale' University).
Summer 2013 - Nyandiwa Study Travel
About 50 Italian volunteers will take turns to Nyandiwa, from mid-June to late August: they are scouts from different regions and students of Bocconi University of Milan ("Students for Humanity" group), the professionals of Lombardy and Calabria. 3 students of Bocconi University of Milan, attending the Masters in 'International Health Care Management Economics and Policy' will work in Nyandiwa to study a development plan for the local health and for the optimized management of resources.

Continued support from the Harambee for reconstruction the school of Kitawa, the small fishing village near Nyandiwa. For teaching is a collaborative agreement with the Teachers Training College; for structures, we are making the reconstruction of the school of sludge, collapsed at 2010 during the rainy season. A second classroom was completed this summer, with the contributions from the Harambee Group of Lonate Pozzolo (Varese, Italy), the Calabria for Harambee group and the initiatives of the Second Life group.
